When Life Steals Your U-Haul

Though the vehicle was later recovered, much of what we built over the years is gone. Each of us has lost our personal stock of books in addition to the group’s many anthologies. This was meant to be our busiest season—our time to share stories and connect with readers—but instead, we find ourselves struggling to replace what was taken. Tables, signage, racks—all the simple tools that make it possible for us to show up and share our stories—come at a price that now feels heavy.

It’s disheartening, but we haven’t lost hope. We started with almost nothing once before, and together, we built something beautiful. Now, we’re asking for a little help to begin again—to rebuild our displays, restock our books, and maybe, someday soon, purchase a small trailer of our own.

We believe in stories—the way they heal, connect, and remind us that we’re not alone. And right now, we’re holding onto that belief more tightly than ever.
