Effham Falls Anthology: A Thief in the Night

Short story setting: In the first weekend of October, the members of the Moorhead Friends Writing Group were in Effham Falls for the Northern Minnesota Cryptid Festival with a book signing at The Tattered Cover when their trailer holding all their books and supplies was stolen.

Your story can be any genre and can go in any direction but must, at a minimum, contain a reference to the festival and the stolen trailer. A general timeline of events is provided under the Members Only tab but is only meant as a guideline.

The Member Only tab also has a link for the list of characters and locations/businesses that have been established in previous books. Please add your information to that spreadsheet and feel free to use existing characters. Contact the author who created those characters if you need more information.

Word count: 5000 words max

-Submission Close: July 15th, 2025

-Estimated Publishing Date: Fall 2026

Payment: Authors will receive one print copy of the anthology.

Submissions are for active members of MFWG and for non-members by invitation only.

-All submissions should be critiqued by two other MFWG members before being submitted.

-File should be sent as a Word document.

-The writing must be original fiction. No AI generated work will be accepted.

-No multiple submissions.

-No simultaneous submissions.
